A 19th century Chinese Qing dynasty watercolour and ink painting on paper depicting two characters / actors from the Peking opera. Within China admiration for the opera boomed during the late 19th century, this image will be from that period and I also have two others available. Painting is in good overall condition with some light marks, the frame has some wear and spots of wood worm. Frame: 31 x 28 cm – Image: 27 x 24 cm. C e l es ti a l N o n e s u ch. A beautiful set of 3 blue-on-white porcelain cups, presumably wine cups. These cups are each decorated with three double happiness symbols, as well as three types of another symbol, possibly an animal. Each cup has a light bluish hue to the glazes. Each are hand decorated, and where the pigmentation is thick, the color is almost black. Presumably Antique Chinese dating from the 17th through early 19th century. A great object for study or display, this will make a nice addition to any student or appreciators collection of Chinese art and artifacts. Very good condition with no detectable repairs. Exhibits signs of age such as surface wear and weathering. As they are part of the description, please enlarge all photographs to better ascertain details and condition. This handsome antique Chinese carp or koi plate is a fine example of Chinese folk pottery. Made for everyday use, this plate has seen over 200 years of family dinners. Its exceptional graphic design has made these plates always popular with collectors. It comes from the late Qing Dynasty and was likely made about 1850. The plate substantial porcelain features a white glaze with a light celadon tint. The vigorous brush work is centered on a blue carp with a reddish brown body. Since these are not fine dinnerware, but rather survivors from Chinese kitchen cabinets. They have imperfections in both potting and glaze. This example has some blemishes, but it is in good original condition. Look closely at my pictures. You will see a potting flaw on the outside of the bowl, that touches the foot rim. A scratch that is glazed, so take a look, it is part of this plates history. 9 Diameter (top edge). 5.4 Diameter (foot rim).
